Lead Whammy Cook – Whammy Bar, Calais VT
We’re looking for a strong, reliable Lead Whammy Cook to take charge of evening service at the Whammy Bar (a sweet little restaurant, bar & music venue in the back room of the Maple Corner Community Store). You’ll work closely with our Kitchen Manager, who handles daytime prep and overall program management, while you run the kitchen at night — keeping service smooth, food consistent, and the line humming. This is a great role for someone who loves cooking, works fast and clean, is comfortable leading a team and thrives in a small, friendly, community centered environment.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the kitchen during Whammy Bar service hours
- Ensure all Whammy Bar prep and set up is completed prior to service
- Cook and plate/package all menu items consistently for dine‑in and takeout
- Manage ticket flow and communicate with bartenders and store staff
- Keep the line clean, stocked, organized, and ready for the next rush
- Oversee nightly cleaning and closing procedures
- Follow recipes, portioning, and food‑safety standards
- Maintain par levels, help with inventory tracking and oversee prep for the next day
- Report shortages, equipment issues, or concerns to the Kitchen Manager

Schedule
- Whammy Bar is open noon–10pm Thursday–Saturday and noon–7pm Sunday.
- The kitchen closes at 9pm (Th–Sat) and 7pm (Sun).
- Ideal candidate would work 30-40 hours per week, focused primarily on Thursday through Sunday
- This role doesn’t require being on site every hour we’re open but does require reliability and flexibility to ensure Whammy kitchen coverage — especially during the busy dinner rush.
Minimum required availability: Thursday through Saturday: 5–10pm.
