Packager
The Packager position is an entry-level manufacturing role responsible for placing finished wax paper products into boxes in a safe, accurate, and efficient manner according to established specifications. This role involves highly repetitive tasks, standing for extended periods, and strict adherence to quality, food safety, and operational standards in a production environment.
Essential Job Functions
The following duties are representative of the work performed. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Primary Responsibilities
- Place finished wax paper products into boxes according to work orders, packaging specifications, and quality standards
- Assemble boxes and ensure proper count, orientation, and placement of product
- Inspect finished product prior to boxing for defects, damage, or contamination and report issues to the Supervisor or Lead
- Verify order details including product type, size, quantity, and labeling requirements
- Apply and verify labels, ID tags, and markings to ensure traceability and accuracy
- Perform quality checks at regular intervals to ensure packaging consistency
Secondary Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with food safety and housekeeping standards
- Follow all food safety, hygiene, GMP, and operational guidelines outlined in work instructions, quality manuals, and the Employee Handbook
- Safely use lift tables or packaging equipment as required, ensuring the area is clear prior to operation
- Assist in other packaging or production areas as trained and assigned
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma or GED preferred but not required
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks with attention to detail
- Demonstrated commitment to quality, safety, and productivity
- Ability to work effectively as part of a production team
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
This position is physically demanding and requires sustained physical activity throughout the shift.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to the full shift)
- Ability to perform repetitive hand, wrist, arm, and upper-body motions
- Ability to lift, push, and pull materials up to 50 pounds repetitively
- Ability to bend, reach, twist, and stoop as required
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with noise, moving machinery, and temperature variations
- Ability to safely perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
Communication & Teamwork
- Basic communication skills required to function effectively within the production team
- Ability to communicate quality, safety, or equipment concerns clearly to Supervisors or Leads
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures and safety instructions
Accountability & Performance Measures
Performance in this role is evaluated based on:
- Accuracy and quality of packaged (boxed) wax paper products
- Cleanliness and organization of the work area (daily audits)
- Productivity metrics such as boxes per hour or other operational standards
- Adherence to safety, GMP, and quality requirements
