THE FAMILY | A warm, welcoming family of five is seeking an experienced, long-term nanny/family assistant to become an integral part of their household. Their previous nanny was with the family long-term, and they recently parted ways on excellent terms. They are now excited to find someone who will seamlessly step into this important role and build a lasting relationship with their family.
The family also employs a full-time housekeeper who has been with them for the past five years. She is a valued member of the household, and the family appreciates her collaborative, team-oriented approach. She occasionally assists with childcare when needed, fostering a supportive environment where everyone works together to keep the household running smoothly.
Both parents have demanding full-time careers. Mom works from the office three days per week and travels approximately once a week, while Dad primarily works from home.
They are looking for a proactive, organized professional who is comfortable working a split-shift schedule, providing support during the morning and afternoon routines. Responsibilities will include childcare, preparing nutritious meals for the family, and assisting with a variety of family-assistant duties, such as grocery shopping, running errands, managing returns, maintaining household organization, and helping keep the family's day-to-day operations running efficiently.
The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys balancing childcare with household support and takes pride in creating a calm, well-managed home.
THE CHILDREN | The family has three wonderful children: a 7-year-old daughter and 4½-year-old twin boys.
Their daughter is bright, curious, spirited, and emotionally intelligent. She thrives on meaningful connections and is looking for a nanny who will be fully present, engage with her interests, and make her feel seen and valued. She loves being involved in everyday activities, whether that's helping prepare meals, cooking together, assisting with household projects, or proudly lending a hand with her younger brothers. She would especially enjoy having a nurturing "big sister" or mentor figure to share these moments with.
The twin boys are affectionate, joyful, and endlessly curious. They are active, playful, and enjoy exploring the world around them through play, conversation, and hands-on activities.
All three children attend school during the day. Responsibilities include school drop-off each morning and afternoon pick-up, with all schools conveniently located near the family's home in Santa Monica.
There are no known allergies within the household. Mom and their daughter are vegetarians, so comfort in preparing both vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals is appreciated.
THE JOB DETAILS | This position offers a wonderful blend of childcare and family assistant responsibilities, making it ideal for someone who enjoys creating structure, staying organized, and supporting a busy family.
The day begins with helping the children get ready for school, preparing breakfast, and managing the morning school drop-off routine. Once the children are at school, the focus shifts to family assistant responsibilities, ensuring the household is well-prepared for the afternoon and evening.
During school hours, responsibilities include preparing healthy lunches, after-school snacks, and family dinners; grocery shopping; running errands; managing returns; maintaining household organization; and completing light housekeeping tasks to keep the home running smoothly. The family is looking for someone who takes initiative, notices what needs to be done, and enjoys creating a calm, organized environment.
In the afternoon, you'll transition back into childcare by picking the children up from school, supporting their after-school routines, engaging them in age-appropriate activities, and helping the family navigate the evening with ease. This role is perfect for someone who finds equal satisfaction in building meaningful relationships with children and keeping a busy household running efficiently.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE | The family is seeking an experienced, dependable professional who genuinely enjoys balancing childcare with family assistant responsibilities. The ideal candidate feels confident caring for three children while also preparing healthy, family-friendly meals and supporting the day-to-day needs of a busy household.
They love to cook and enjoy preparing nutritious breakfasts, lunches, snacks, and dinners. They are comfortable following recipes while also bringing creativity and fresh ideas to meal planning that the whole family will enjoy.
This person thrives in a dynamic environment where every day looks a little different. They naturally notice what needs to be done, take initiative without being asked, and find satisfaction in creating calm, organization, and efficiency within the home. They are proactive, resourceful, and enjoy being an integral part of a family's daily life.
With the children, they are warm, playful, patient, and emotionally mature, building strong, trusting relationships while maintaining appropriate boundaries. With the parents, they are professional, communicative, and collaborative. They welcome feedback, exercise excellent judgment, communicate openly, and understand when to confidently take initiative and when to seek guidance. They possess strong written and verbal English communication skills, allowing them to communicate clearly and professionally with the family, schools, and other household vendors or professionals as needed.
Because the position includes split shifts and local school drop-offs and pick-ups, the ideal candidate lives within a reasonable commuting distance of Santa Monica.
