Retail Tray Pack Supervisor – 2nd Shift.
Position Summary
The Retail Tray Pack Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all second shift tray pack operations to ensure the efficient production of retail-ready poultry products that meet company standards for quality, safety, appearance, and customer specifications. This role provides hands-on leadership while driving productivity, labor efficiency, and consistency in a fast-paced retail production environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Retail Tray Pack Operations

Supervise and coordinate all tray pack production activities, ensuring products meet retail specifications, labeling requirements, and presentation standards.

Monitor production flow to ensure throughput targets and customer order deadlines are met.

Ensure proper portioning, packaging, labeling, and product rotation in accordance with customer and regulatory standards.

Develop and manage daily staffing schedules to align with production needs, controlling overtime and labor costs to prevent negative labor variance.
Team Leadership & Development

Lead, coach, and develop tray pack team members to ensure performance, engagement, and accountability.

Provide direction on daily assignments, expectations, and production goals for the shift.

Address performance concerns, enforce policies, and maintain a fair and consistent approach within a union environment.

Foster a positive, team-oriented culture aligned with company values.
Quality & Food Safety

Ensure strict adherence to food safety requirements, including HACCP, USDA, FDA, and SQF standards.

Monitor product quality, appearance, and packaging integrity to meet retail customer expectations.

Partner with QA to address and resolve any product quality or food safety concerns.
Efficiency & Process Improvement

Identify opportunities to improve tray pack line efficiency, reduce waste, and improve yields.

Support continuous improvement initiatives related to labor efficiency, line performance, and workflow optimization.

Ensure proper use and maintenance of tray pack equipment.
Reporting & Accountability

Track and report production output, labor utilization, and performance metrics for the shift.

Maintain accurate documentation related to production, quality, and staffing.

Communicate shift performance, challenges, and improvement opportunities to leadership.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications

3–5 years of supervisory experience in food production, retail processing, or high-volume manufacturing.

Experience with tray pack, retail packaging, or fresh food production strongly preferred.

Strong leadership, communication, and team development skills.

Bilingual Spanish preferred.

Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles a plus.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).

Ability to work a flexible Full-Time schedule, including weekends and holidays as needed.

Experience working in a unionized environment preferred.
