A purchasing manager is responsible for overseeing the procurement process of goods and services for a company, including researching suppliers, negotiating contracts, managing inventory levels, and ensuring the best quality products are obtained at the most competitive price, while aligning with company needs and budget constraints
Identify, research, and evaluate potential suppliers based on price, quality, delivery time, and reliability.
Negotiate purchase agreements with vendors to secure the best pricing and terms.
Monitor inventory levels and forecast future needs to avoid stockouts or overstocking.
Stay updated on market trends and price fluctuations to make informed purchasing decisions.
Analyze spending patterns and identify opportunities to reduce costs without compromising quality.
Ensure purchased goods meet quality standards and specifications.
Build and maintain positive relationships with key suppliers to ensure timely deliveries and address issues effectively.
Establish and implement efficient purchasing procedures and policies.
Manage the purchasing budget and track spending against allocated funds.
Lead and supervise a team of purchasing agents or buyers.
Prepare and present procurement reports to senior management.

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field.
Proven experience in purchasing or procurement roles.
Experience managing supplier relationships.
Strong negotiation skills: Ability to negotiate favorable terms with suppliers.
Analytical skills: Analyze data to identify cost-saving opportunities and make informed decisions.
Market knowledge: Understanding of industry trends and supplier landscape.
Project management skills: Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Communication skills: Effective communication with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
Procurement software proficiency: Knowledge of purchasing and inventory management software – KOJO, Foundation and Microsoft Excel.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
