Position Title: ESL Teacher
Summary: The role of the ESL Teacher is to facilitate a successful implementation of the ESL curriculum by planning a variety of activities and exercises to help students develop their English language skills. The goal is to provide targeted support and instruction that develops the reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills of all English Language Learners (ELLs). The ESL Teacher is to be the advocate for ELLs, supporting the student's academic progress, and helping families gain understanding of school expectations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required.
- Valid New Jersey Teacher of ESL certification or eligibility (ESL Teacher).
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary.
- Understand the requirement to maintain confidentiality concerning charter school-related matters.
Prior to employment, the following must be addressed:
- Required to complete a criminal history background check to prove that the individual has not been convicted of a crime or a disorderly person’s offense in accordance with N.J.S.A 18A:6-7.1.
- Provide evidence that health is adequate to fulfill the job functions and responsibilities with reasonable accommodation pursuant to 42 U.S.C. 12101 and in accordance with N.J.A.C. 6A:32-6.2.
- Pass the state required Mantoux Intradermal Tuberculin Test as required by N.J.A.C. 6A:32-6.3.
- A valid driver’s license is preferred.
- Meet such alternatives to the above qualifications as the CEO finds appropriate and acceptable.

Performance Responsibilities:
The ESL Teacher shall:
Pursue and support the vision and mission of iLearn Schools Inc. while upholding board and administrative initiatives and maintaining the highest ethical and professional standards when working with students, parents, staff, and community partners. Maintain professional competence through continuous growth and adhere to all federal laws, New Jersey school regulations, and iLearn Schools policies. Ensure confidentiality of student and staff records, communicate professionally with families and the community, and assist with data collection and charter school renewal processes. Respond appropriately to safety, health, or welfare concerns and follow affirmative action and emergency response procedures. Support the academic success of English Language Learners (ELLs) by implementing board-approved curriculum, developing effective lesson plans, providing differentiated and small-group instruction, assessing English proficiency and academic progress, and identifying students eligible for bilingual or ENL services. Maintain accurate student records, collaborate with staff to address learning needs, foster a positive classroom environment, manage instructional time effectively, supervise students as required, participate in school events, and perform other duties within the scope of certification and employment as assigned.

Terms of Employment: Ten-month employee
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with New Jersey state law (Title 18A) and the provisions of the iLearn Schools policy on evaluation of certified personnel.
