About the Opportunity
JMT Staffing Solutions is partnering with a well-established mechanical contracting firm to hire a Lead Mechanical Designer for their Springfield office. This is a key role for an experienced professional who thrives in both technical design and client-facing environments.
Position Overview
The Lead Mechanical Designer will play a critical role in designing mechanical systems, collaborating directly with clients, and supporting preconstruction efforts. This individual will lead design initiatives while also contributing to estimating and vendor coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of mechanical systems for commercial and/or industrial projects
- Work directly with clients to understand project requirements and translate concepts into design solutions
- Create and manage detailed drawings using AutoCAD MEP and/or Revit
- Collaborate with internal teams, project managers, and field personnel
- Assist in project estimating, including takeoffs and scope development
- Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors to obtain pricing and support bid efforts
- Ensure designs meet applicable codes, standards, and client expectations
Qualifications
- 7–13 years of experience in mechanical design within a mechanical contracting environment
- Proficiency with AutoCAD MEP and/or Revit
- Strong client-facing experience with the ability to communicate design concepts effectively
- Experience supporting estimating efforts and working with subcontractors/vendors
- Solid understanding of HVAC and mechanical systems
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
Compensation & Benefits
