We are looking for a dispatcher to join our team and coordinate our drivers, vehicles, and routes.
In this vital role, you will coordinate and oversee the efficient dispatching of delivery vehicles, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of packages. Your expertise in transportation planning will drive smooth road transportation operations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be at the heart of our logistics operations, optimizing routes, managing communication with drivers and ensuring compliance with regulations. Duties and Responsibilities
- Effectively manage a team of 30-65+ delivery associates for success on the road as safe and efficient delivery drivers.
- Assign and schedule drivers and vehicles according to available routes.
- Run a standup meeting prior to going on the road.
- Supervise and assist with loadout process.
- Monitor the status and location of our drivers and vehicles using GPS and other software.
- Communicate with drivers and other stakeholders via phone, email, and text.
- Handle emergencies, delays, and issues that may arise during the transportation process, including coordinating and arranging rescues when necessary.
- Maintaining accurate records and reports of dispatch activities.
- Periodically pick up a route or same-day route to maintain driving eligibility.
- Mentor new drivers on best practices on the road and during weekly one-on-one meetings.
- Attend operational meetings.
- Qualify and interview new driver candidates.
Experience and Qualifications
- At least 3 years of experience as a dispatcher in the transportation industry.
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- A valid driver's license and a clean driving and criminal record.
- Strong communication skills.
- Experience in supervising and managing staff.
- Experience with van care.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Technology proficient.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Be a reasoned, proactive thinker.
- Be organized and disciplined.
- Ability to work well under pressure, to multitask, and to prioritize
- Availability to work Sunday to Wednesday or Wednesday to Saturday 11 am to 9 pm, including some holidays
