Heavenly Hands, Inc. is actively hiring for a Direct Support Professional for a young male with intellectual disabilities such as Helsmoortel-VanderAa Syndrome, or ADNP (Activity Dependent Neuroprotective Protein), mitochondrial disorder, seizure disorder, and autism spectrum disorder.
The individual does have a history of property destruction, emotional outbursts, elopement, and urination on property. The individual also shows a history of self-injury, aggression behaviors.
He enjoys outdoor activities that include playing on the playground, watching Jim Carey Christmas movies (The Grinch and Elf), and daily use of his iPad. He lives with his parents in Va Beach near Indian River Road.
Staff with ABA experience or RBT experience is highly ideal. Staff must have reliable transportation.
Hours:
Monday - Friday: 2pm - 7pm
Saturday and Sunday: 9am - 3pm or 10am - 3pm
(Must work at least two weekends out of the month; every weekend is available.)
We are offering $20.00 to $24.00 an hour.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist and train individuals in a home setting to enable the individual to maintain health status, develop and maintain skills with Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s) in home environment. Empower and support the individual in developing their own lifestyle.
- Assist in functional skills related to personal care (Toileting, bathing, grooming, dressing, eating, etc.), if needed.
- Monitor health and physical condition and assistance with medication and/or medical needs.
- Ensures all services are documented as required by agency procedures and regulatory standards.
- Reads and follows the Individualized Service Plan (ISP) for individuals.
- Completes and submits required daily support notes for the individual according to established agency guidelines.
- Demonstrates understanding of Human Rights Rules and Regulations and upholds the Human Rights Plan.
- Ability to bend, stoop, sit, stand, reach and lift items when at least 50 pounds.
- Pre-employment drug testing and random drug/alcohol testing throughout employment.

Must Haves:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must consent to criminal records check, including a fingerprint check.
- Valid VA driver's license required with acceptable driving record.
- Must complete a TB Screening.
Nice To Haves:
- High School or GED Diploma preferred.
- One year work experience working with the Intellectually/Developmentally Disabled population preferred but will train.
Once hired, must complete all required trainings in a timely manner – DD Staff Orientation Test, Staff Competencies, and Therapeutic Options, First Aid/CPR. If credentials are already obtained, please bring current copies.
Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
