The Business Coach & Trainer advances aspiring entrepreneurs and small businesses by delivering business development instruction, providing one-on-one coaching and technical assistance, and helping entrepreneurs turn ideas into practical, actionable plans. This position supports adult learners and entrepreneurs from diverse backgrounds, including low- to moderate-income communities, micro-entrepreneurs, and established business owners. The role requires strong knowledge of small-business development, entrepreneurship education, adult learning, business planning, and the Tampa Bay entrepreneurship support ecosystem. The ideal candidate is bilingual in English and Spanish, self-motivated, organized, culturally responsive, and skilled at explaining business concepts in clear, accessible, and practical ways.
Essential Responsibilities:
(1) Business Coaching, Technical Assistance & Participant Progress
- Provide one-on-one coaching and technical assistance to aspiring, start-up, and established entrepreneurs in English and Spanish.
- Guide entrepreneurs through business concept development, business formation, licensing, permitting, compliance, operations, recovery, growth, and expansion strategies.
- Support participants in developing clear, practical business plans or business planning documents as key program outputs.
- Assist participants with financial projections, budgeting, pricing, goal setting, market research, marketing strategies, customer identification, and operational planning.
- Review draft business plans and provide timely, constructive, and supportive feedback aligned with program expectations and participant goals.
- Offer guidance on business concepts, customer segments, pricing, marketing, financial assumptions, implementation plans, and readiness for launch or growth.
- Monitor participant attendance, assignments, coaching progress, business plan milestones, and completion status.
- Identify participants who need additional support and coordinate follow-up to strengthen retention, engagement, and successful program completion.
- Help entrepreneurs identify next steps related to licensing, access to capital, technical assistance, market opportunities, business launch, recovery, growth, or expansion.
(2) Training & Instruction
- Facilitate business development workshops, cohort sessions, and educational events, both in person and online, using approved curriculum, materials, and learning objectives.
- Teach core business fundamentals, including business models, market analysis, pricing, marketing, operations, financial basics, legal structure, compliance, and business planning.
- Create an engaging, inclusive, and practical learning environment for adult learners with varying education levels, business experience, language access needs, and cultural backgrounds.
- Use real-world examples, hands-on exercises, group discussion, and applied learning to help participants connect business concepts to their ventures.
- Adapt training methods and materials to support diverse learning styles while maintaining alignment with program goals, milestones, and expected outcomes.
- Assist participants with final presentations, pitch activities, business plan reviews, and other program-completion activities as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- Fluency in English and Spanish, including speaking, reading, and writing.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in small business development, entrepreneurship support, coaching, consulting.
- Minimum of three (3) years providing training, teaching, or adult education.
- Demonstrated knowledge of business planning, budgeting, financial management, marketing, business formation, licensing, compliance, and small business operations.
- Experience working effectively with diverse populations and multicultural, multilingual communities.
- Strong facilitation, coaching, communication, relationship-building, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently, collaborate effectively, manage multiple priorities, and maintain accurate documentation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, CRM or client management systems, virtual meeting platforms, and business technology tools.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends based on cohort schedules and program needs; reliable transportation required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, Education, Economic Development, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.
- Experience operating, managing, advising, or growing a small business.
- Familiarity with Tampa Bay small business resources, community-based organizations, lending resources, government resources, permitting, licensing, and entrepreneur support services.
- Experience using learning management systems, online teaching tools, digital platforms, or data systems to support instruction, engagement, and reporting.

Work Schedule
This position is expected to work Full-Time, 40 hours per week. The schedule will be based on cohort dates, coaching needs, workshops, outreach activities, and program priorities. Training and coaching may take place during weekdays, evenings, and weekends and at multiple locations.
