Overview
Montgomery IP is seeking experienced patent agents or patent attorneys to handle ongoing invention matters on a work‑from‑home, project‑based basis. This is supplemental work designed to fit alongside your existing practice — not a full‑time load.
We provide the leads, inventor intake, and customer service. You focus on the patent work: provisionals, utility/design applications, and office actions.
We also teach and support the use of AI tools to help you work faster and more effectively, without compromising quality or ethics.
This is an immediate opening, and we may bring on more than one contractor.
What you’ll do
- Draft and review provisional, utility, and design patent applications.
- Prepare and respond to office actions where applicable.
- Review invention disclosures and ask clarifying questions when needed.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with our internal team; we handle the inventor‑facing customer service.
- Use our processes and (optional) AI‑assisted workflows to increase speed and consistency.
What we provide
- A steady stream of qualified invention cases.
- Structured intake and support — you don’t have to find clients or handle sales.
- Templates, training, and guidance on incorporating AI into your drafting and research.
- Project‑based pay with clear scope for each matter.
What we’re looking for
- Registered Patent Agent or Patent Attorney authorized to practice before the USPTO.
- Solid experience with patent drafting and office action responses.
- Strong written communication and attention to detail.
- Reliable, professional, and comfortable working independently from home.
- Looking for supplemental work, not a full‑time position.
Compensation
- Paid per project, with rates depending on type and complexity.
- 1099 contract – you are responsible for your own taxes and practice overhead.
Schedule
- Flexible, remote, work‑from‑home.
- Volume can be adjusted to fit around your existing practice.
- Immediate openings, with potential for additional cases over time.

Please apply through Indeed and include:
- Your name and contact information.
