Position Overview
Real Future Communication LLC is seeking hardworking and dependable Bore Rig Laborers to join our Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) crews supporting Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) construction projects throughout the United States.
As a Bore Rig Laborer, you will work alongside the Drill Operator and Locator to install underground conduit and fiber optic infrastructure safely and efficiently. This position plays a critical role in preparing job sites, supporting drilling operations, restoring work areas, and ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and to customer specifications.

What You'll Do
As a Bore Rig Laborer, your responsibilities will include:
- Assist the HDD Drill Operator and Locator throughout all phases of directional drilling operations.
- Load, unload, organize, and transport drilling equipment, conduit, tools, and materials.
- Handle drill rods, reamers, swivels, pull heads, and drilling accessories.
- Dig potholes by hand or using approved excavation equipment to expose existing utilities.
- Assist with conduit installation and pullback operations.
- Install underground conduit and fiber optic infrastructure according to project specifications.
- Perform jobsite setup, traffic control, and safety barricade installation.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, compactors, generators, pumps, and other construction equipment.
- Maintain clean and organized jobsites before, during, and after construction.
- Assist with restoration including backfilling, grading, sod replacement, asphalt repair, and concrete restoration.
- Complete daily equipment inspections and report maintenance concerns.
- Follow utility locate markings and safe excavation practices.
- Assist with loading trailers and maintaining company equipment.
- Follow OSHA regulations, customer specifications, and company safety policies.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants should possess the following qualifications:
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Ability to pass customer-required background checks and drug screening.
- Reliable transportation to assigned reporting locations.
- Ability to travel for projects when required.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic with dependable attendance.
- Ability to safely work around heavy equipment and underground utilities.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, or extended shifts when necessary.
- Ability to lift and carry 75 pounds repeatedly throughout the workday.
- Ability to bend, kneel, climb, squat, and perform physically demanding labor for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, preference will be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following:
- Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD)
- Underground utility construction
- Fiber optic construction (FTTH)
- Directional boring crews
- Utility locating
- Conduit installation
- Mini excavator operation
- Skid steer operation
- Trenching equipment
- Restoration work
- Underground electrical, gas, water, sewer, or telecommunications projects
Experience operating or working around Vermeer, Ditch Witch, or similar directional drilling equipment is highly preferred.
Preferred Certifications
The following certifications are considered a plus and may qualify candidates for higher starting pay:
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Construction
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- First Aid / CPR Certification
- Competent Person Training
- Traffic Control / Flagger Certification
- Utility Locator Experience
- Excavation & Trenching Safety Training
- Heavy Equipment Certifications
- Fiber Optic or Telecommunications Construction Experience

Physical Requirements
This position requires frequent physical activity including:
- Standing and walking for extended periods.
- Lifting up to 75 pounds regularly.
- Working in trenches and uneven terrain.
- Climbing in and out of equipment and excavations.
- Repetitive bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting.
- Working in heat, cold, rain, mud, snow, and varying weather conditions.
- Exposure to construction noise, dust, and heavy equipment.
Work Environment
Bore Rig Laborers work outdoors on active construction sites where safety is the highest priority. Work is performed around heavy machinery, underground utilities, roadways, and excavation areas. Employees should expect occasional overnight travel and extended work hours depending on project schedules and customer demands.
