SUMMARY
Coordinates activities concerned with production of company product(s) by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate Shift Supervisors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Reads job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
- Observes machine operation to detect product defects or machine malfunction.
- Measures formed product dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation and to verify conformance to specifications.
- Assists with developing, monitoring and maintaining production and quality standards, develops budget and cost controls, and obtains data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered.
- Plans and directs production activities and establishes production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.
- Coordinates production activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.
- Reviews and analyzes production, quality, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications and operating or production problems.
- Develops and implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality.
- Revises production schedules and priorities as result of equipment failure or operating problems.
- Consults with engineering personnel relative to modification of machines and equipment to improve production and quality of products.
- Compiles, stores, and retrieves production data.
- Provides a safe work environment by communicating and enforcing compliance of all safety policies and procedures.
- Provides positive leadership by maintaining open communication with all employees.
- Provides growth opportunities for all employees.
- Perform all duties in compliance with regulatory requirements as well as company policies and procedures
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages subordinate Shift Supervisors and leaders in Production-related departments. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out leadership responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); associates degree or equivalent form a two-year college or technical school is preferred; four to ten years related production experience with three to five years of supervisory related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to apply math concepts to computer programming (robotics - CNC equipment).
- Ability to operate PC utilizing current computer software to create reports and correspondence. Ability to operate business planning online computer system or a similar system. Ability to operate and trouble shoot all machinery and equipment within the production facility. Successfully complete CPR and first aid training. Ability to identify when and how to use TQM tools.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described in this section are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee will spend time in the production areas and in the office.
The production area temperatures can fluctuate significantly based on the time of year. The noise levels can be moderate to high. The use of hearing protection and safety eyewear is required while on production floor. The use of additional specific safety equipment may be required. The noise level in the office is usually quiet. The noise level in production is usually moderate.
WORK AVAILABILITY
Must have the ability to work all shift schedules, periodic overtime and be available for periodic weekend work.
