Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM (40 hours/week)

We are seeking a Financial Counselor to join our Patient Access team in Charlotte, NC. This role serves as a liaison between patients, clinical teams, and business operations by providing financial counseling, preparing patient cost estimates, verifying insurance benefits, and educating patients on their financial responsibility before receiving care.

Prepare and explain patient cost estimates prior to services.

Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and coverage.

Discuss patient financial responsibility, including deductibles, copays, coinsurance, and out-of-pocket expenses.

Educate patients on payment options, financial assistance programs, and payment plans.

Collaborate with clinical and business office teams to ensure accurate financial information.

Maintain accurate documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR).

Provide exceptional customer service while handling sensitive financial conversations.

Resolve insurance and billing questions through research and problem-solving.

Experience in healthcare financial counseling, patient access, registration, or revenue cycle operations.

Strong understanding of insurance verification and healthcare benefits.

Excellent customer service and patient communication skills.

Ability to confidently discuss financial responsibility and payment options with patients.

Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Financial counseling experience within a hospital or health system.

Experience preparing patient estimates and discussing out-of-pocket costs.

Experience working with payment plans or financial assistance programs.

Epic or other EMR experience (Cerner, Meditech, etc.).

Neuroscience or specialty practice experience is a plus.
