Line Cook/Prep Cook

Mt. Zion Preparatory Academy is seeking a Line Cook that is a self-starter & hard worker that will provide nutritious meals for our private boarding school.
The Line Cook must be able to cook various types of meals to include, Spanish, Asian, African, & or Italian. Must be able to cook a minimum of 2 of the cultural meals previously listed.
Under supervision, the line cook responsibilities will include but not limited to the preparation and cooking foods to include soups, sauces, salads, meats, entrees, desserts, catering events and all other items determined by Mt. Zion’s administration
. As a private boarding school, we provide meals 7 days for our students. Therefore, your schedule can include weekdays, weekends and holidays.
The current schedule has two options:
Sunday -Wednesday
Thursday-Saturday

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Cook healthy & nutritious meals
- Station setup prior to meals with appropriate equipment and food to be determined by the supervisor.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area via supervisor instruction and applicable health, safety and food handling regulations.
- Always provide customer service in a courteous manner.
Essential requirements:
- Comprehension of both verbal and written food recipes, production orders, cooking instructions and a variety of techniques required for preparation of daily menus.
- Follow all outlined menu and health/safety regulations with regard to food preparation, equipment use and personal hygiene.
- A Positive “can-do” attitude
- Inventory, order, receive, unpack, unwrap, date, rotate and stow all food and supply orders and deliveries.
- Keep kitchen and lunch areas cleaned, to include but not limited to washing dishes, wiping tables, sanitizing cooking areas, and sweeping & mopping floors.
This position may be called upon to perform other jobs as determined by the supervisor.
We are located in Prince Georges, Md in the city of Lanham. Therefore, personnel will be required to have reliable transportation to maintain a work schedule.
