Overview
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, leading, and maintaining a high-quality cheerleading program that supports school spirit, student-athlete development, and positive representation of the school at events and competitions. The coach will demonstrate strong leadership, organizational skills, and a commitment to fostering teamwork and school pride.
Qualifications:
- Fingerprint clearance with the North Carolina State Department of Education prior to the start date
- Prior cheerleading coaching or participation experience, preferably at the high school level
- Knowledge of cheerleading skills, stunting techniques, safety protocols, and performance preparation
- Thorough knowledge of rules, regulations, and requirements of the Alabama High School Athletic Association
- Strong leadership and communication skills and commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team culture
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supports the goals and objectives of the TMSA School District
- Develops and implements a comprehensive cheerleading program that emphasizes spirit, teamwork, and safety
- Plans and conducts regular practices to improve cheerleading techniques, stunts, and routines
- Prepares cheerleaders for participation at athletic events, pep rallies, and competitive events
- Ensures proper safety procedures are followed, particularly in stunting and tumbling activities
- Monitors academic progress and personal conduct of student-athletes
- Collaborates with school administrators, faculty, and parents to ensure a supportive environment for student-athletes
- Manages uniforms, equipment, and program budget responsibly
- Promotes positive school spirit and models appropriate behavior and sportsmanship
- Attends meetings, workshops, and training sessions to stay current with rules and best practices
- Performs other duties as assigned by school and/or district administrators

- Ability to effectively present information to others and respond to students, parents, and staff. Ability to maintain the confidentiality of student matters. Ability to effectively manage time and responsibilities. Ability to be professional in appearance, attitude, and demeanor. Ability to be punctual and comply with a precise work schedule.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others. Knowledge of child development and especially of characteristics of students in the age group assigned. Knowledge of the prescribed curriculum. Knowledge of current educational research. Basic understanding and knowledge of current technology.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand for extended periods of time. The employee must also talk, hear, stand, and walk. The employee may be required to use their hands to finger, handle, feel, and/or reach. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. This is stipend position $3000 per season Fall/Winter
