The Owls Head Transportation Museum has an opening for an ON-SITE STEM Summer Educator. This position is full-time, on-site and in-person, and includes event weekends.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The main duty of the STEM Summer Educator is to deliver presentations and programs to a variety of audiences in a variety of settings. Reporting directly to the Education Director, the STEM Summer Educator is responsible for implementing a full range of interpretive educational programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Delivers education-based programs and presentations that may include: demonstration of historical equipment and processes, including operation of machinery; hands-on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) interactives and demonstrations; use of historical exhibit components; use of electronic devices such as tablets; group and tour facilitation; and other activities as needed.
2. Assists in research and development of new camp programming for children ages 4- to 12-years old.
3. Maintains appropriate appearance, cleanliness, and operation of the daily work site and performs simple maintenance, preparation of space, clean-up, and other tasks as necessary.
4. Ensures the safety of guests and staff.
5. Helps protect artifacts, and Museum equipment and structures from damage.
6. Timely communicates operational problems and issues with department members and contributes to the evaluation of department programs.
7. Continues to learn, synthesize, and deliver new content through self-preparation and memorization.
8. Follows instructions precisely and proactively problem-solves as appropriate, keeping the Education Director fully informed at all times as instructed.
9. Demonstrates flexibility in meeting unexpected changes in assignments or in filling in for co-workers.
10. Performs other duties as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR POSITION:
1. Be 18 years or older.
2. Be experienced working with the public.
3. Adheres to all Museum policies, safety standards, and the Employee Handbook.
4. Must be able to stand for prolonged periods, to respond with physical speed and agility in a variety of environments and weather conditions, to lift, carry, and physically manage up to 25 lbs.
