Job Overview

Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms with dental instruments, supplies, and materials necessary for orthodontic procedures.
- Assist the orthodontist during various treatments, including bracket placement, adjustments, and appliance repairs, utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Take and develop dental X-rays and 3D scans, ensuring proper technique and patient safety in compliance with infection prevention management and aseptic procedures.
- Manage patient records using EMR systems, ensuring accurate documentation of treatment plans, progress notes, and medical histories in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices specific to orthodontic appliances and provide post-treatment instructions to promote optimal results.
- Process dental instruments through sterilization procedures following infection control standards and maintain clinical confidentiality policies at all times.
- Support the dental reception team by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing patient flow efficiently.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and clinical procedures related to orthodontics, pediatrics, prosthodontics, endodontics, and oral surgery.
- Proficiency in using dental software for dental documentation and records management.
- Experience with dental x-ray techniques including panoramic and intraoral photos; familiarity with orthodontic imaging technology is a plus.
- Expertise in dental instrument processing, sterilization procedures, infection prevention management, and aseptic technique to ensure a safe clinical environment.
- Excellent communication skills as a dental assistant; capable of explaining treatment steps clearly while maintaining professionalism.
- Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control practices relevant to dental clinics; understanding of HIPAA compliance is essential.
