Job Overview
As a Police Officer, you will serve and protect the community by enforcing laws, maintaining public order, and ensuring the safety of citizens. This role requires a commitment to upholding justice, responding to emergencies, and engaging with the community to foster trust and cooperation. You will work in various environments, from patrolling neighborhoods to responding to incidents and conducting investigations.
Duties
- Patrol assigned areas to deter and detect criminal activity.
- Respond promptly to emergency calls and incidents.
- Conduct thorough investigations into crimes, including gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses.
- Prepare detailed reports on incidents, arrests, and investigations.
- Enforce traffic laws and regulations while ensuring road safety.
- Manage conflicts effectively, utilizing conflict management skills to de-escalate situations.
Minimum Requirements
- U.S. Citizen
- High school diploma or GED
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must pass an extensive background investigation and psychological exam
- Valid Kansas driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
- Must be of good moral character
- No felony convictions
- No domestic battery convictions or diversions
- No disqualifying misdemeanor convictions
- Must reside within 60 miles of Lyndon within one year of hire
- Must be able to attend and pass all educational and physical requirements of the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center (KLETC)
- This position requires shift work, including weekends and holidays
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Kansas Law Enforcement Officer
