So, the above text has been automatically generated by indeed and it lists all essential parts and skills related to the job. Now, a word from you sponsor- the hiring manager.
I, honestly, do not feel like this is a great job for someone with a family as it [the job] requires constantly being on the road. Read this part again and carefully consider your choices. Employers never post the "SUCKS" they all like to glorify the sh"t you are about to get into but I am straight with my staff and I dont want to hire someone to fire them later or lose them due to lack of clarity on my end.
So, you travel a lot, in a truck, or by plane across the U.S.- I do not know HOW but people seem to misread this part completely, so I am going to stress this one out a bit again:
- you are in a company truck, traveling from job sites, from state, to another state, to another state...
-usually, our techs are on the road for about 3 weeks to a month and then they get 1 week vacation, and back on the road. If you want to stay longer- you can.
(obviously expenses are paid and you get $40 a day per diem for food every day you are at work.)
-We house our employees at Bed & Breakfasts. Everyone gets their own room 99% of the time. Occasionally, smaller US towns don't have enough BrNBs and you might share a bedroom with one other tech (no cuddling). Very rare occurrence. (ok, cuddling)
-You work 12 hour shifts. There will be OT (overtime), oh yeah. There is some OT, alright. You pretty much hit OT on day four. Overtime is calculated at "time and a half"
You install cables and run them through dusty old ceiling ,attics, tombs, graveyards, the pentagon, or, mostly, elderly care facilities. That's the "sucks" about the job.
Now, onto the "great". If you work hard for 6 months to a year, you will be able to afford to buy that dog, hamster, car, nose job you have always wanted. You get to see the U.S. You get to travel. If I were not tied to another project right now (which is being old) , I would take this opportunity in a heartbeat.
The lead tech we are looking for will handle a team of 2-3 junior techs and serve as a player coach, babysitter, shoulder to cry on and hopefully a solid part of our company's future.
Join us as a Lead Cable Technician if you’re ready to take charge of complex network projects while delivering outstanding service! Your expertise will help shape reliable communication infrastructures that empower businesses everywhere.
