The Opportunity:
Whittier Street Health Center is seeking a full-time Certified Nutritionist Specialist to provide individualized medical nutrition therapy, support chronic disease management, and lead group education initiatives while advancing our mission to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care to Boston’s diverse communities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one nutrition counseling to support improved health outcomes
- Deliver medical nutrition therapy for patients with chronic conditions such as diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular disease
- Facilitate group education sessions, including diabetes group visits and nutrition workshops
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams to coordinate patient-centered care
- Develop culturally responsive nutrition education materials and meal planning resources
- Conduct dietary assessments, identify nutritional risks, and create individualized care plans
- Participate in community outreach, health fairs, and public health initiatives
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or higher in Nutrition, Dietetics, Public Health, or a related field required
- Current Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS) credential required
- Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist (LDN) in Massachusetts required, or eligibility to obtain prior to start
- 1–3 years of clinical nutrition experience, preferably in a community health or outpatient setting
- Experience providing medical nutrition therapy for chronic disease management
- Strong knowledge of evidence-based nutrition guidelines and preventive health practices
- Experience facilitating group education sessions or workshops preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with EHR systems
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and interdisciplinary teams
