American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist – Respiratory Educator with 5+ years of pediatric experience to lead a clinical education and professional development program at a standalone children's hospital in Chicago, IL.

Role focuses on respiratory professional development, new graduate residency oversight, onboarding, and ongoing educational programming

Pediatric patient population with exposure to complex respiratory cases

Equipment includes pediatric ventilators (Draeger, Servo, Jet, oscillator), nitric oxide, IPV, HFNC, airway clearance equipment, and intubation
-
EMR: Epic and Microsoft products
-
10-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM, primarily Monday through Thursday (some weeks may be 8-hour shifts)

40 hours per week

No call or holiday requirements

No floating required

Local candidates are accepted

RRT credential required; CRTs will not be accepted

NPS certification required
-
Minimum 5 years of experience in pediatric respiratory care

Bachelor's degree preferred

Prior travel assignment experience preferred, ideally at a children's hospital

Experience as a formal or informal educator in a pediatric setting preferred

Current BLS certification required
-
Flu and COVID-19 vaccination documentation, including both doses and lot numbers, required — facility does not accept declinations

At least 1 professional reference within the last year required for consideration

All candidates must be nicotine free

Lead a two-week classroom-based residency program for approximately 16 newly graduated Respiratory Care Practitioners, with a pre-prepared syllabus including speakers and skills sessions

Responsible for onboarding new employees and contributing to ongoing educational programming beyond the initial residency

A part-time staff member and other RCPs are available to assist with the residency program

Ideal candidate has a passion for education and experience as a leader, whether formal or informal, in a pediatric respiratory setting

Orientations are held every Monday
