Sandcastle Properties is looking for a dependable and experienced Part-Time Property Maintenance Technician to help maintain our residential rental properties throughout the Northwest Indiana area.
We are looking for someone who is hands-on, reliable, able to troubleshoot problems, and takes pride in doing quality work. This is a great position for an experienced maintenance technician, handyman, semi-retired tradesperson, or someone with construction/remodeling experience who is looking for steady part-time work.
Schedule
- Approximately 10–20 hours per week
- Monday–Friday, primarily daytime hours
- Some flexibility may be needed based on tenant scheduling and property turnovers
- Additional hours may occasionally be available
What You'll Be Doing
- Completing general maintenance and repair work at rental properties
- Minor plumbing repairs, including toilets, faucets, drains, and leaks
- Drywall patching and repair
- Painting and touch-ups
- Door, lock, and hardware repairs
- Minor carpentry
- Basic appliance troubleshooting and installation
- Smoke/CO detector replacement
- Property turnover repairs
- Minor exterior repairs
- Troubleshooting maintenance issues
- Identifying when a repair requires a specialized contractor
- Communicating completed work and additional concerns to management
What We're Looking For
- Previous maintenance, handyman, construction, remodeling, or similar experience
- Strong general repair and troubleshooting skills
- Dependable and able to work independently
- Professional and respectful when working in tenants' homes
- Good communication skills
- Valid driver's license
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to use a smartphone for work orders, photos, and communication
- Basic hand and power tools preferred
Compensation
$22–$28 per hour, depending on experience and skill level

This position requires entering both occupied and vacant rental properties. The successful candidate must be trustworthy, professional, respectful of residents and their belongings, and comfortable working independently.
Employment will be contingent upon satisfactory background and reference checks.
