Key Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid New Jersey certification as Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TOSD) or Teacher of Handicapped (TOH)
- Endorsements and/or teaching experience in high school mathematics, science, or social studies preferred
- Previous experience working in a resource room, inclusion, or self-contained setting serving adolescents
- Strong classroom management skills and a passion for individualizing learning plans
- Ability to collaborate with general education teachers, families, and support staff
- Excellent communication skills, flexibility, and organizational abilities
- Knowledge of developing and implementing IEPs, progress monitoring, and ensuring compliance with state and federal guidelines
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver instruction to high school students with diverse learning needs using evidence-based strategies
- Adapt core curriculum content in math, science, or social studies to meet IEP objectives
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop, review, and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Track student progress and maintain accurate, confidential records
- Communicate regularly with parents and staff to support student success
- Participate in team meetings, professional development, and ongoing training
