Join our dedicated transportation team as a CDL School Bus Driver and become an essential part of providing safe, reliable transportation for students throughout the North Chicago area. We welcome both experienced CDL School Bus Drivers and motivated individuals who are interested in obtaining their Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with School Bus (S) and Passenger (P) endorsements through our training program.

Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport students to and from school, field trips, extracurricular activities, and school-sponsored events while following established routes and schedules.
- Operate school buses safely and professionally while complying with all federal, state, and local traffic laws and transportation safety regulations.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and promptly report any mechanical or safety concerns.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and professional bus environment.
- Assist students with boarding and exiting the bus, including providing wheelchair assistance and accommodating students with special needs when required.
- Maintain appropriate student behavior and ensure a safe riding environment in accordance with school district policies.
- Communicate professionally with students, parents, school administrators, dispatch personnel, and transportation staff.
- Complete required route documentation, inspection reports, mileage records, and incident reports accurately.
- Respond calmly and effectively to emergencies, accidents, traffic changes, weather conditions, or medical situations while prioritizing passenger safety.
- Attend required safety meetings, continuing education, and company training programs.
Qualifications for Certified CDL Applicants
- Valid Illinois Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements.
- Current Illinois School Bus Driver Permit (or ability to maintain one).
- Current Medical Examiner's Certificate (DOT Medical Card).
- Ability to successfully pass state-required background checks, fingerprinting, drug screening, and physical examination.
- Safe driving record with a strong commitment to safety.
Applicants Seeking CDL Certification
- Valid Illinois driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Minimum 21 years of age.
- Willingness to complete company-sponsored CDL training.
- Ability to obtain Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements.
- Ability to pass background checks, fingerprinting, drug screening, and DOT physical examination.
- Strong work ethic, professionalism, and excellent attendance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience operating school buses, transit buses, paratransit vehicles, shuttle buses, or other commercial vehicles.
- Experience working with children, students, or individuals with disabilities.
- Knowledge of transportation safety regulations, vehicle inspection procedures, and emergency response protocols.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain certification).
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Bilingual language skills are a plus.
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to identify basic vehicle maintenance concerns.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond quickly to changing traffic or emergency situations.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to safely assist passengers when necessary.
- Ability to perform vehicle inspections and routine safety checks.
- Ability to lift and move equipment or mobility devices as needed.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions.
