ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Assists the Deputy Chief Clerk II with required duties such as accepting all probate documents for filing, time stamping, collecting fees and filing documents.
· Verifies and checks documents are within legal code such as mental health commitments and guardianship.
· Schedule cases for committing hearings with guidance of the Deputy Chief Clerk II.
· Appoint Guardian Ad litem to mental health cases.
· Issues and tracks County business license accounts receivable.
· Prepare statements, reports and correspondence.
· Renews and issues driver’s licenses, ID cards, permits and commercial driver's licenses.
· Performs additional clerical duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
· High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
· Minimum One (1) year of business, office, customer service, or administrative experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
· Valid Alabama driver's license and acceptable driving record in accordance with County requirements.
· Ability to obtain and maintain an Alabama Notary Public Commission.
· Ability to travel for meetings and training and work overtime, evenings, or weekends as needed.
· This is a "safety-sensitive" position. Must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check. This position will be subject to random, unannounced drug testing throughout employment with the County while in a "safety-sensitive" position.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
· Ability to read, interpret, and apply information from business publications, professional journals, technical documents, correspondence, and procedure manuals.
· Strong communication skills, including clear written, verbal, and listening abilities, with the capacity to present information effectively to managers, customers, and the public.
· Proficiency with basic mathematical concepts and the ability to apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical appraisal tasks.
· Skill in analyzing and solving practical problems involving a variety of variables with limited standardization.
· Ability to understand and follow instructions presented in written, verbal, diagrammatic, or schedule formats.
· Competence in operating office equipment including computers, calculators, copiers, scanners, fax machines, typewriters, and multi-line telephones.
· Willingness and ability to learn new software programs and systems.
Pay: $37,440.00 per year
