Job Overview
The Executive Director provides overall leadership for The Tree House Foundation, including programs, partnerships, staff, operations, fundraising, and financial oversight.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys building relationships, supporting communities, solving problems, and helping a growing nonprofit move forward. The Executive Director will work closely with the Board of Directors, staff, residents, property-management teams, housing partners, funders, and community organizations.
The ideal candidate does not need to have a traditional executive background. We welcome applicants with a variety of professional, nonprofit, community, business, education, social-service, housing, or leadership experiences who are organized, dependable, willing to learn, and committed to the Foundation’s mission.
Key Responsibilities Organizational Leadership
- Provide day-to-day leadership and direction for the Foundation.
- Work with the Board to establish priorities and goals.
- Help plan and support the organization’s continued growth.
- Identify opportunities to improve programs and services.
- Help create simple systems that support effective operations.
- Stay connected to the needs of residents and communities served.
Resident Programs & Services
Support and oversee resident-centered programming, which may include:
- After-school and youth programs
- Summer programming and camps
- Computer labs and technology access
- Employment and workforce resources
- Food assistance and food distributions
- Financial education and budgeting resources
- Health and wellness programs
- Housing and community-resource navigation
- Senior activities
- Family and community events
- Educational workshops
- Partnerships that connect residents with additional services
The Executive Director will listen to residents and partners and help ensure that programs are useful, accessible, and responsive to community needs.
Community & Property Partnerships
- Build positive relationships with property-management teams and housing partners.
- Work with on-site teams to identify resident needs and coordinate programs.
- Develop relationships with nonprofit organizations, schools, healthcare providers, employers, government agencies, and other community partners.
- Support community events, outreach, food distributions, and resident activities.
- Help connect residents with helpful resources and services.
Staff & Volunteer Support
- Support and guide Foundation employees and volunteers.
- Help create a positive, respectful, and collaborative work environment.
- Provide clear direction and encouragement.
- Assist with hiring, training, scheduling, and staff development as needed.
- Help ensure staff have the tools and support needed to serve residents effectively.
Financial & Administrative Oversight
- Work with the Board and financial partners on the annual budget.
- Monitor basic income, expenses, and cash flow.
- Help ensure responsible use of Foundation resources.
- Maintain organized records and administrative processes.
- Support compliance with grants, contracts, insurance, and nonprofit requirements.
- Provide regular updates to the Board.
Fundraising & Partnerships
- Help identify grants, donations, sponsorships, and other funding opportunities.
- Build relationships with donors, foundations, businesses, and community supporters.
- Assist with grant applications and reports.
- Help communicate the Foundation’s work and impact.
- Seek in-kind donations and other resources that benefit residents and programs.
Board Relations
- Maintain an open and collaborative relationship with the Board of Directors.
- Attend Board meetings and provide updates.
- Share information about programs, finances, staffing, partnerships, and opportunities.
- Help the Board understand the Foundation’s progress and needs.
Communications & Community Visibility
- Represent The Tree House Foundation in the community.
- Help promote programs and services to residents and partners.
- Support website, social media, outreach, and other communications.
- Share the Foundation’s accomplishments and community impact.
- Communicate respectfully and protect resident privacy.
Program Tracking
- Keep basic records of programs, participation, partnerships, and outcomes, along with programs Director.
- Gather feedback from residents, staff, and partners.
- Use information gathered to improve programs.
- Help communicate results to the Board, funders, and partners.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who is dependable, organized, community-minded, and interested in making a difference. A specific degree or number of years of experience is not required.
Helpful experience may include:
- Nonprofit, community, housing, education, social-service, business, or program experience
- Supervising or supporting employees or volunteers
- Building relationships with community partners
- Managing projects, events, or programs
- Working with budgets, grants, donations, or fundraising
- Communicating with a variety of people
- Experience working with residents, families, youth, seniors, or underserved communities
Equivalent personal, volunteer, professional, or community experience is welcome. The most important qualities are a willingness to learn, strong follow-through, good judgment, and a genuine commitment to the Foundation’s mission.

Location & Travel
The Executive Director position is based in Orlando, Florida.
Occasional travel throughout Florida may be needed for community visits, programs, meetings, events, and partner activities. Travel will be planned based on organizational needs.
