About the Role
We're looking for a Consumer Loan Officer to join our centralized lending team.
This is not a traditional branch lending position. Our Consumer Loan Officers manage the full lending process for consumer loans that originate through phone and online channels. Rather than handing applications off to multiple departments, you'll serve as the primary point of contact from application through funding.
You'll review credit applications, interpret credit reports, evaluate lending ratios, gather documentation, structure loan solutions, communicate with members, prepare loan documents, and guide borrowers through electronic closings.
Our members come from a wide range of financial backgrounds. Some have excellent credit and established borrowing relationships. Others may be rebuilding credit, overcoming financial challenges, or seeking guidance on how to improve their financial situation. Success in this role requires strong lending knowledge, sound judgment, empathy, and a genuine desire to help members achieve their financial goals.
Unlike many financial institutions, our members often come to us during important life moments—purchasing reliable transportation, consolidating debt, rebuilding credit, or overcoming financial challenges. The work you do here directly impacts individuals and families throughout Milwaukee and the surrounding communities.

What You'll Do
Manage the Full Loan Process
- Review and process consumer loan applications received through phone and online channels
- Review credit reports, income documentation, and collateral information to identify lending opportunities, documentation needs, and solutions for members
- Calculate and evaluate key lending ratios, including debt-to-income (DTI) and loan-to-value (LTV)
- Gather required documentation and satisfy loan stipulations
- Prepare loan documents and coordinate electronic closings
- Complete funding and follow-through activities to ensure a smooth member experience
Deliver Consultative Lending Solutions
- Serve as a trusted resource throughout the lending process
- Counsel members with challenging credit histories and identify solutions that support their financial goals
- Explain lending decisions, loan terms, and available options clearly and professionally
- Recommend products and services that strengthen members' financial well-being
Apply Lending Expertise
- Exercise sound judgment when reviewing applications, identifying potential concerns, and collaborating with underwriters to help members find appropriate lending solutions
- Maintain knowledge of lending regulations, policies, and procedures
- Navigate unique lending scenarios with confidence and attention to detail
Contribute to Team Success

What You'll Bring
- Experience in consumer lending, loan processing, financial services sales, or a related role
- Ability to read and interpret credit reports, income documentation, and lending requirements in order to effectively guide members through the lending process
- Understanding of key lending metrics such as DTI and LTV and the ability to discuss lending qualifications and options with members
- Experience having solution-focused conversations with members regarding credit challenges, debt obligations, lending decisions, and opportunities to improve future borrowing options
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple loans at various stages of the process
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly in a phone-based environment
- Comfort using lending systems and Microsoft Office applications
