STEM Educator (STEAM-Focused – No Math Instruction)

Hours: 12–25 hours per week (depending on schedule and programs)
Salary: $18–$25 per hour
Owl STEAM Academy is an innovative STEAM-based program designed to help parents guide their students through essential education in science, technology, engineering, and art—while connecting those subjects to students’ lives and the natural world around them. We are seeking a passionate, dedicated, and knowledgeable STEM Educator to lead and support our dynamic educational offerings.
Position Overview:
As a STEM Educator with Owl STEAM Academy, you will play a key role in delivering engaging, hands-on instruction in science, environmental education, engineering activities, and art-infused STEM projects for students from elementary through high school. This position is ideal for someone enthusiastic about the natural world, creative learning, and helping students build real-world connections through STEAM.
Key Responsibilities:
Primary Teaching Responsibilities (6–10 hours per week):
You’ll help lead and support a variety of classes and workshops focused on science, engineering, nature, and art integration. Classes are hands-on, interactive, and tailored to engage young learners.
Supporting Roles (As Needed – 6+ hours weekly):
You will assist the team in a variety of hands-on, STEAM-focused programs, including:
- Science and Nature Classes: Support engaging lessons and activities for students in grades K–12.
- Workshops & Special Events: Help lead monthly workshops on topics like nature, conservation, and space.
- Outdoor Education: Co-lead nature hikes, dissections, and journaling activities that promote real-world exploration.
- Field Trips & Guest Visits: Assist in organizing educational outings and connecting students with STEAM professionals.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Degree in a STEAM-related field such as biology, environmental science, engineering, education, or similar.
- Teaching certification is a plus but not required.
Experience:
- Teaching or educational experience (K–12), especially with hands-on or outdoor learning.
- Comfort with outdoor education, dissections, and working with a wide age range.
- Experience in wildlife education, environmental science, or STEAM programming is highly valued.
Skills:
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Enthusiasm for making STEAM education exciting and relevant.
- Creativity in lesson planning and student engagement.
- Flexibility to adapt teaching strategies for different learners.
Additional Requirements:
- Availability: Must be available 6 to 15 hours per week, including some evenings, weekends, and outdoor sessions.
- Background Check: Required for all positions working with children.
- STEAM Passion: A love for science, technology, engineering, environmental education, and creativity is essential.
