In support of Christopher Newport University’s mission, the mission of CNU Dining Services is to provide CNU students with the highest quality in food and dining experiences. In doing so, we are committed to providing fast and customer-friendly services and to provide clean and positive atmospheres throughout the Dining Services operations. Other important components of our mission are to create and cultivate an inclusive environment that helps support places on campus, beyond the classrooms, where intellectual inquiry may occur, and in which social and civic values are fostered. Purpose of the Position
This position will ensure high level customer service and quality food production in one of the highest ranked college dining facilities in Virginia. Additionally, this position will assist with the management of four eateries.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Related to Position
- Knowledge in food preparation and quantity food production in retail operations
- Understanding of scheduling, personnel management, health codes, food cost, retail sales, and inventory management
- Knowledge of recipes and costing products for retail sales
- Ability to communicate in writing or verbally to both supervisors and subordinates
- Ability to adjust to cyclic environment
- Ability to be accurate despite repetitious detail work
- Knowledge of cooking methods and kitchen equipment
- Knowledge of business related mathematics
- Cash handling skills
- Skilled in the use of personal computers and associated software
- Ability to work under pressure of time restraints and deadlines
- Ability to work nights and weekends
- Skilled in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, or similar systems
- Understanding of purchasing
Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Required
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent education/experience that equates to a high school diploma
Experience:
- Food service management experience.

Salary Information
Starting at $45,689 to $57,112, Commensurate with Education and Experience
