Machinist
7 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Position Summary
The Machinist is responsible for fabricating, repairing, modifying, and maintaining mechanical equipment and components used in mining and industrial operations. This position performs precision machining, troubleshooting, welding, and equipment repair while following all company safety procedures and MSHA regulations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate manual and/or CNC machine tools and related equipment.
- Fabricate and repair shafts, bushings, bearings, rollers, conveyors, and other mechanical components.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and equipment manuals.
- Perform precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, indicators, and other measuring tools.
- Repair and maintain mining and plant equipment to minimize downtime.
- Troubleshoot mechanical failures and determine corrective actions.
- Perform welding, cutting, and fitting as needed.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas in accordance with safety standards.
- Follow all MSHA, OSHA, lockout/tagout, and company safety procedures.
- Complete required maintenance documentation and work orders.
- Assist other maintenance personnel during shutdowns and emergency repairs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Basic welding and fabrication experience required.
- Previous industrial, mining, or heavy equipment maintenance experience preferred.
- Ability to safely operate machining and fabrication equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read precision measuring instruments and blueprints.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to stand, bend, climb, and work in industrial environments for extended periods.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures, dust, noise, and outdoor conditions.
