Addictions - Trained Evening Counselor
ViaMar Health is seeking an Addictions Trained - Evening Counselor (CAC. CAP or MCAP) to join our clinical team in a residential treatment setting serving individuals with eating disorders and co-occurring substance use disorders.
Evening Shift - 1PM - 9PM / Residential Treatment Setting (Sunday - Thursday). Report to 560 Village Blvd, West Palm Beach and then go to residential property located in North Palm at approximately 4:30pm each evening for remainder of shift.
Position Overview:
The evening counselor plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, therapeutic milieu while providing structure, leadership, and clinical support during evening programming. This position is ideal for someone who embraces responsibility, understands recovery principles, and can lead with consistency and compassion.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct support and guidance to patients with eating disorders and co-occurring addictions
- Support and reinforce recovery-oriented programming grounded in 12-Step philosophy and principles
- Lead and support evening therapeutic activities and groups as assigned
- Serve as a visible leader on shift helping to support staff, model professionalism, and ensure structure
- Assist with de-escalation, boundary setting, and real-time clinical decision-making
- Communicate effectively with nursing and clinical leadership regarding patient needs and concerns
- Maintain accurate, timely, and professional documentation
Qualifications
- CAC or CAP certification strongly encouraged.
- Masters level therapist who is seasons with strong experience
- Addictions-trained, with experience supporting substance use recovery
- Strong working knowledge of 12 Step philosophy
- Experience in residential, behavioral health, or dual diagnosis settings preferred
- Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to "step up" when needed
- Calm, confident and professional presence
- Strong communication, boundaries, and organizational skills
