The Section of General Internal Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine is dedicated to excellence in patient care, education, and scholarly activities. As general internists, we apply scientific knowledge, clinical expertise and compassion to prevention, screening, diagnosis, and treatment of adult patients with a broad spectrum of medical conditions. We care for diverse patients in primary care outpatient settings. Our physicians practice at Baylor Medicine Clinic and interact with colleagues at Baylor St. Luke's CHI Hospitals (Medical Center, Sugarland, Vintage, Woodlands), Harris Health System (Ben Taub Hospital and Smith Clinic) and the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
The Margaret M. and Albert B. Alkek Department of Medicine is the largest adult practice department at Baylor College of Medicine. Founded in 1953, it is one of the largest education programs in the United States with more than 700 trainees and a highly competitive specialty fellowship training programs, including seven federally funded research training grants. Our healthcare providers see hundreds of thousands of patients in seven inpatient and outpatient facilities, and our department's clinical excellence is recognized in U.S. News and World Report.
