JOB DESCRIPTION
PAYRATE RANGE: $29.00-$30.00 per hour w/SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL: $1.50 per hour.

Job Summary
Maintains the standards of nursing care as established by the philosophy of the CMH & RHCF nursing department. Provides nursing care under the direction of a Registered Nurse and in accordance with the objectives, policies and procedures of CMH nursing department and NYS Department of Education. Participates in patient teaching and in unit Quality Assurance evaluation activities. Passes medications and does treatments with patient / resident teaching. Represent CMH in a positive manner, within the building and in the community. Full time / All Shifts
Education, Training and Experience
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with current Practical Nursing Licensure with the New York State Department of Education. Must be able to document in the patient’s records. Able to successfully pass the Pharmacology exam. CPR certified.
Special Equipment/Skills
Ability to assume charge nurse duties and administer medications. Must possess effective communication and documentation skills. Ability to follow resident care plan and identify appropriate nursing intervention. Participates in patient / resident care planning, based on patient / resident needs and realistic goals.
Work Environment Hazards
Exposure to body substances and blood borne pathogens. Exposure to acting out behavior of patients with dementia which could result in injury. Risk of physical injury from lifting patients and operation of equipment.

Special Physical Demands
Must be able to lift more than 25 pounds, bend, stoop, push and pull equipment, wheelchairs, stretchers. Assists with resident transfer, ambulation and provide total resident care. Must be able to assist residents during an evacuation. Walks and stands for most of the working day. Must be able to deal with stress related to resident care activities, residents and families.
