Job Overview
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Cafe Associates to join our dynamic team. This role involves providing exceptional customer service, preparing food and beverages, and maintaining a clean and organized café environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the food industry, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced setting. Previous experience in food service, cashiering, or retail is preferred but not required. This position also offers additional hours to also work in our retail gift shop, as the coffee shop is located directly within our gift shop.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve coffee, tea and specialty beverages
- Operate Shopify POS system (extremely user-friendly) for order processing and payment handling. Full training will be provided
- Provide excellent customer service by taking orders, answering questions, and ensuring customer satisfaction
- Handle cash transactions accurately, including cash handling and basic math calculations
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas, including dining areas and equipment
- Assist with food safety practices, proper food handling, and sanitation procedures
- Upsell menu items to enhance sales opportunities while ensuring customer needs are met
- Restock supplies, manage inventory levels, and assist with bussing tables as needed
- Support team members during busy periods to ensure efficient service delivery
- We will only be offering pre-packaged foods so food prep is minimal
Experience
- Previous experience in a Cafe' environment, food service, or quick-service restaurant environments is preferred, however, not required
- Familiarity with Shopify POS is a plus
- Knowledge of food safety standards, sanitation practices, and proper food handling techniques/thorough training will be provided
- Experience in cashiering or retail math enhances efficiency in cash handling tasks
- Strong time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced setting
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse customers
- Basic kitchen or culinary experience is beneficial but not mandatory; training will be provided for specific duties
