Basic Purpose
Under general direction of the Operations Manager of Cabinetry and Project Management Team, the Field Service Technician is responsible for conducting field inspections, accurately measuring spaces for cabinet installation, and providing expert touch-ups and adjustments to newly installed cabinets. This includes completing any necessary repairs and/or alterations as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan, execute and complete all work in required time frames
- Conduct on-site inspections to assess the space and conditions for cabinet installation.
- Read, understand, and accurately interpret blueprints.
- Do site visits to do measurements so we can accurately design and draft to the specific areas to have mill work installed.
- Help problem solve on the job site and have the carpentry skills to be able to do first class installations or custom fabrications that customers are looking for.
- Adjust and align cabinet doors, drawers, and hardware to meet quality standards.
- Set up and operate various machines and hand tools.
- Cut & shape wood and other materials
- Prepare substrate for processing as required per job specs
- Touch up various finishes in the field
- Bore holes for insertion of screws, hardware or as required by customer
- Glue, fit, clamp parts
- Install hardware such as hinges, latches, locks, etc.
- Repair and alter parts to a finished unit.
- Do final walk through after each installation to identify any issues and get a final sign off from customer after completion.
- Write change orders for all work outside of scope. This must be approved by owner and UCD before work is to be performed.
- Clean up working area
- Adheres to company policies and all safety standards
- Follows quality control guidelines
- Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as your supervisor may assign.
- Clock in/out using a phone-based app.
- Ability to navigate between jobsites using GPS.
Education and Work Experience
· The ability to do accurate work at a rapid pace and to follow detailed instructions are key job requirements.
· Must be able to work independently, be efficient, productive and have a critical eye for detail.
· Proven experience as a Cabinet Maker or similar role in residential settings.
· Some education beyond a HS degree is preferred.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills
- Superior Customer Service and Communication skills.
- Effective communication skills to interact with clients, installation teams, and other stakeholders.
- Knowledge & training on the proper use of various tools & equipment.
- Must be able to read a tape measure.
- Strong carpentry skills with an eye for detail and craftsmanship.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities to troubleshoot and resolve issues promptly.
- Have a clean DMV record with a valid drivers license.
Equipment
- Hand and power tools, such as, nail gun, sander, drill, staple gun, pin nailer, router, table saw, chop saw, etc.
- Any tools provided by UCD are to be cared for in the best possible manner.
- Be responsible for a UCD owned service van. Operate the van daily while obeying speed limits and DMV regulations. Van to be kept in a secured location off hours.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
· Must be able to work a 40-hour week, although overtime and shift work maybe required.
· Adequate light and ventilation.; shop and or some job sites are not heated or air-conditioned.
· Wear protective equipment for ear, eye and skin always.
· Make sure lose clothing and gloves are approved by supervisor when operating certain machinery or hand tools.
· While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be regularly required to perform different types of physical activities.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $26.00 - $30.00 per hour
