Job Summary: The Direct Support Professional ("DSP") is responsible for the individuals with developmental disabilities who attends the day program. DSP is responsible for all program activities including community activities. Direct Support Professionals are required to perform all duties in accordance with the State of New Jersey regulations and Beyond 21 Day Program policies and procedures.
Assists in the implementation of individual ISP for individuals and behavioral plan goals;
Assists individuals in development of self-care and personal hygiene skills;
Plans, prepares and assists the individuals in the pursuit of leisure, recreational, social and community activities.
Works all assigned schedules, including arriving and departing on time, requesting time off in advance and immediately notifying your supervisor of changes to his/her assigned work schedule.
Must report to the supervisor in the event you are late or are unable to come to work
Complete and maintain individual documentation.
Ensures each individuals' rights are protected;
High School Diploma (or Equivalent); computer proficient; clears all criminal background checks, drug tests, fingerprints. May not be disqualified by the Department of Human Services prior to hire. Any Applicant for a DSP position must agree to have his/her name checked against the Central Registry of Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities and shall complete an application to have his/her name checked against the Child Abuse Registry Information (CARI).
Education and Experience: High School diploma or Equivalent and at least one (1) year experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred; ability to lift/push/pull 30 lbs.; Knowledge of equipment typically used by persons receiving services, including wheelchairs and adaptive devices. Three references required.
