Key Accountabilities
- Handle daily import and export activities for FCL, LCL, air freight, and special cargo shipments.
- Monitor shipment status from origin departure through final delivery.
- Ensure timely processing of arrival notices, shipping documents, and cargo release documentation.
- Review import and export files for accuracy and completeness before delivery, billing, and file closing.
- Coordinate cargo availability, terminal/warehouse releases, container movement, and delivery arrangements.
- Monitor vessel and flight schedules and provide customers with timely shipment status updates.
- Coordinate with carriers, airlines, overseas agents, customs brokers, terminals, truckers, warehouses, and customers.
- Resolve shipment delays, cargo holds, customs examinations, documentation issues, and delivery problems.
- Serve as a point of contact for import and export customer inquiries and escalations.
- Provide operational support and guidance to Import/Export Coordinators and Documentation Specialists.
- Support staff with import/export procedures, documentation, compliance requirements, and customer service standards.
Skills & Capabilities:
- Strong communication, priority-setting, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with computers, including spreadsheets, databases, and word processing programs.
- Courtesy and tact to ensure effective and efficient solutions.
- Proficient with import/export documentation, including hazardous materials, transportation, and U.S. import/export regulations.
- Working knowledge of both ocean and air import/export procedures.
Education:
- College degree in a business-related field preferred or equivalent experience.
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of ocean import/export freight forwarding experience.
- Air import/export experience required.
- Prior experience providing guidance or support to team members is a plus.
- Bilingual in English and Chinese is an advantage.
