The Facilities Maintenance Employee is responsible for maintaining company buildings, grounds, equipment, and systems to ensure a safe, clean, and efficient work environment. This position performs routine maintenance, repairs, inspections, and preventative maintenance activities while complying with all company safety policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform routine building maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
- Maintain and repair electrical, plumbing, HVAC, lighting, and mechanical systems as needed.
- Conduct preventative maintenance on equipment and facility systems.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repair situations.
- Inspect facilities regularly to identify safety hazards, maintenance needs, and operational issues.
- Repair walls, doors, flooring, ceilings, windows, and other building components.
- Maintain exterior grounds, including parking lots, walkways, landscaping, and general property appearance.
- Operate and maintain maintenance tools, equipment, and vehicles safely.
- Coordinate with outside contractors and vendors when necessary.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety standards.
- Assist with facility renovations, office moves, and special projects as assigned.
- Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and notify management when replenishment is needed.
Qualifications and Experience
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Minimum of 1–3 years of facility maintenance, building maintenance, or related experience preferred.
- Technical training or certifications in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or related fields are a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and general maintenance practices.
- Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose maintenance issues.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to read and understand maintenance manuals, safety procedures, and work orders.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, and perform physical labor for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment safely.
Working Conditions
- Work may involve exposure to dust, noise, chemicals, and varying temperatures.
- Occasional overtime, weekend, or on-call work may be required to address facility emergencies.
