AEL Altamonte Springs Schedule: 9 am to 3 pm - up to 35 hrs./week
Experience: High School Diploma; some college preferred
Requirement: Good Driving Record; Valid Drivers License
Rate: $18-$20 - depending on experience
This position supports our growing Laboratory in the Altamonte Springs AEL Laboratories business hours are 8 AM – 5 PM, with operational hours to include 7 AM - 7 PM Monday through Friday. Work weeks could be 7 days a week, including holidays when needed.
Summary: Professional driver to pick up and deliver items for the laboratory, most frequently sample kits. A significant amount of on-the-job training is required for couriers, and it is common for more experienced couriers to supervise new hires until they achieve a certain level of proficiency. During the training period, a courier may be evaluated based on their timeliness and other criteria set forth by the company.
Basic Technical Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Valid state issued driver's license to operate company vehicles
- Must have clean driving records and obey traffic laws
- AEL runs background checks on all employees
- Must be able to pass drug test
- US Work Authorization
- Driving years: 3 (preferred)
- Punctuality and reliability
- Possess good customer service skills
- Able to drive for long periods, up to 8 hours per day
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Promptly respond to requests to pick up or deliver samples or supplies
- Follow specific sample transporting procedures given by the facility
- Responsible for picking up and transporting hazardous materials
- Complete documentation for accurate record of travel and client visits
- Maintain vehicle in clean and safe condition
- Must comply with safety driving regulations in accordance with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT)
- Plan trips for effective use of time to meet client needs
- Disposes of materials in accordance with established company procedures
- Update management on maintenance needs for vehicle
- Interact with clients in a professional and courteous manner
- Act as liaison between clients and lab staff
- Remain compliant with all driver procedures, certifications, and AEL company driver policies
- Communicate with the lab leads to ensure samples are delivered in a safe, timely and efficient manner
- Keep track of mileage and gasoline
- Other job duties as determined by local management
- Assist in sample receiving kit preparation after routes
- Maintain a professional appearance with AEL shirt/hat
