Job Profile:
The Paving Roller Operator reports to the Construction Foreman. The primary purpose is to work as a team with the rest of the crew to complete assigned projects or portions of projects to contract specifications. This person will operate paving equipment such as skid loaders, rollers etc. to facilitate this work. This person will frequently work more than 40 hours per week, and non-traditional hours including some Saturdays.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
· Attend daily meeting with foreman to get schedule, duties and special concerns.
· Communicate with crew to organize most efficient plan for getting work done.
· Operate equipment in a safe and effective manner in order to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life by following all company policies, procedures, federal and state laws.
· Perform daily safety and maintenance checks, ensure safely and securely stored, clean heavy equipment as scheduled and/or required.
· Works with crew to complete paving. This may include shoveling, raking and cleaning up asphalt.
· Operator must deal with residents and members of the public in a courteous and respectful manner. Report or defer any complaints to their foreman.
· Perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to time by management.
Skills and Specialties:
· Knowledge of construction and safety practices.
· Knowledge of proper use and maintenance of construction equipment.
· Knowledge of paving operation, including rolling patterns, achieving specified densities, proper finishing temperature, etc.
· Willing to work in a team atmosphere.
· Able to communicate effectively with crew members, engineers, inspectors and public citizens.
· Operator must have analytical, problem solving, decision making skills, effective verbal, written and listening communication skills.
· Operator must be honest, trustworthy, and respectful, be flexible, demonstrate sound work ethics and deal with the public in a positive, courteous and respectful manner.
Education and Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED; 2 to 5 years’ experience with construction equipment. Must have valid driver’s license, CDL is preferred. Job-related training/license is a plus. Must be able to pass Pre-employment physical and drug test.
Pay: From $23.00 per hour
