JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION: Certified Medical Assistant/Technician; Certified Nurse Asst.; Medical Asst.
SUPERVISOR: Nurse Manager

- JOB SUMMARY: Provides patient care to health center patients in accordance with health center policies/procedures, within the scope of certification and as directed by the provider staff.
- SPECIFIC DUTIES:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Follows CAA policies/procedures, including current HIPAA regulations
- Provides patient care in accordance with health center policies/procedures and as directed by provider staff
- Assists with clerical/receptionist duties as assigned
- Assists in planning and developing a work plan to advance medical home principles
- Completes requisitions, files, purchase orders, stock orders and other paperwork as required by health center policies/procedures and as assigned by supervisory personnel and provider staff
- Assists in organizing the care of patients with health care professionals, care team and family members concerning treatment and attaining health goals
- Maintains computer records regarding patient information, statistical information or other pertinent data
- Participates in performance improvement activities, collaborations and committees as assigned
- Actively supports quality improvement efforts, working to improve patient experience
- Cross-trains with other health center staff as assigned
- Participates in health fairs and community outreach programs as assigned
- Performs in-house lab tests; prepares specimens to be sent to reference lab
- Travel required for trainings, CME opportunities, satellite sites, etc.
- Maintains compliance with all laws, regulations, and policies as defined by Federal, State and any other regulatory body
- Other duties as assigned
C. REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High School Diploma/GED
2. Registered Medical Assistant in the Ohio registry or certification as a nurse assistant
3. CMEs annually as required by Ohio Medical Assistant registry to maintain certification
4. Current CPR certification
D. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
1. 1-2 years of experience in ambulatory health care is preferred
2. Effective interpersonal communication skills
3. Background check including Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Medicare exclusion list, verification of valid driver’s license, employment medical exam, including a TB test, adherence to all CAA policies/procedures and requirements of all funding sources. CAA is a drug/alcohol-free and smoke-free workplace and post-offer drug and alcohol testing is required.
4. Ability to work in several locations
5. Basic knowledge of medications and medical terminology
6. Demonstrates computer skills
7. Ability to follow patient plan of care
8. Ability to accurately carry out orders of providers in a timely manner
9. Initiative to understand and carry out tasks necessary to assure good patient care without constant supervision
10. Demonstrate basic nursing skills (vitals, labs, etc.)
11. 90-day probationary period
E. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds
2. Ability to push, pull, carry, lift, bend, twist, reach, sit, stand for lengthy periods of time; ability to walk for extended periods of time
3. Ability to work in a fast-paced and often high-stress environment as well as the ability to adapt quickly to workload changes
4. Ability to deal with inside and outside clientele in a diplomatic and courteous manner while assuring adherence to CAA policies/procedures
5. Above-average oral, reading and writing skills to accurately operate a computer, perform necessary documentation and effectively communicate with staff, patients, clients, customers, business partners, other CAA departments and visitors

SALARY: FLSA CLASSIFICATION:
Dependent upon qualifications and experience Hourly, non-exempt
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.37 - $16.50 per hour
