Entech Engineering is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer with an active Professional Engineer (PE) license to join our growing electrical engineering team. This position is focused on the design and analysis of medium- and low-voltage power systems for industrial, energy, municipal, institutional, healthcare, higher education, and government clients.
You'll lead the electrical design of complex projects involving power distribution, standby generation, renewable energy, and utility infrastructure while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and designers. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on technically challenging projects including campus electrical distribution systems, power system studies, distributed energy resources, and microgrids, while helping mentor junior staff and contributing to the continued growth of our electrical services.
This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems, working directly with clients, and taking ownership of projects from planning through construction.
This position is available from our Beaver Falls, Reading, Lancaster, or Pottsville, PA office locations.
Role and Responsibilities
The specific responsibilities will vary based on the successful candidate's background and experience. Primary responsibilities include:
Power Systems Engineering:

Design and specify medium- and low-voltage electrical power distribution systems for commercial, industrial, municipal, institutional, healthcare, and energy facilities.

Perform engineering calculations to size and select electrical equipment including switchgear, transformers, generators, cables, protective devices, and associated equipment.

Perform and review power system studies including load flow, short circuit, protective device coordination, and arc flash analyses.

Design and specify standby and emergency power systems utilizing diesel and natural gas generators, automatic transfer switches, and associated controls.

Prepare one-line diagrams, elementary diagrams, power plans, grounding plans, equipment layouts, and construction details.

Develop project-specific technical specifications in CSI MasterFormat by adapting master specifications and Entech standard templates.

Coordinate electrical service requirements with electric utilities and assist clients in evaluating service upgrades and new utility connections.

Serve as the electrical discipline lead on multidisciplinary engineering projects, coordinating design activities and ensuring technical quality.
Controls and System Integration:

Depending on project needs and individual experience, responsibilities may also include:

Assist in the design of PLC-based control / SCADA systems for utility and industrial facilities.

Develop control system functional descriptions, I/O lists, communications architectures, and testing plans.

Coordinate electrical interfaces between power systems, automation systems, and SCADA platforms.
Project Delivery:

Perform site investigations, field verification, construction observation, and equipment commissioning support.

Prepare technical reports, engineering studies, and written recommendations.

Communicate technical concepts effectively through reports, client meetings, design reviews, and construction coordination.

Mentor junior engineers and designers through technical guidance and design reviews.

Perform quality assurance and technical review of engineering calculations, drawings, and specifications.

- Demonstrated ability to independently lead the electrical design of multidisciplinary engineering projects.

Strong understanding of medium- and low-voltage power distribution systems.

Experience designing standby and emergency power systems utilizing generators and transfer equipment.

Knowledge of electrical system grounding, overcurrent protection, and power system coordination.

Proficiency in preparing electrical construction drawings, specifications, and engineering calculations.

Ability to coordinate effectively with utility providers regarding electrical service requirements and facility upgrades.

Thorough knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable electrical design standards.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to mentor junior engineers and work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams.

Demonstrated ability to effectively leverage AI-assisted engineering tools while maintaining sound engineering judgment and responsibility for technical accuracy.
