Industrial Maintenance Mechanic | 4-Day Work Week
Star Railroad is an established railcar repair facility located in Green Cove Springs, Florida. We are seeking an experienced, dependable, and self-motivated Industrial Maintenance Mechanic to maintain and repair the equipment and machinery that support our daily operations.
This position is responsible for maintaining a variety of industrial equipment, including forklifts, skid steers, telehandlers, backhoes, generators, compressors, shop trucks, and other equipment used throughout our railcar repair facility. The ideal candidate will be comfortable troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, gasoline, propane, and diesel-powered equipment while working independently with minimal supervision.
Schedule
- Monday - Thursday
- 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM
- Three-day weekends every week
- Full-time position with a consistent schedule
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain gasoline, propane, and diesel-powered equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance inspections and scheduled services
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, fuel, and cooling systems
- Maintain and repair forklifts, skid steers, telehandlers, backhoes, generators, compressors, shop trucks, pressure washers, and other industrial equipment
- Diagnose equipment failures and determine proper repair procedures
- Perform component replacement, repairs, and routine maintenance as required
- Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records
- Identify parts requirements and assist with parts ordering and inventory management
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and repair needs during normal operations
- Coordinate equipment maintenance schedules to minimize downtime
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company policies
Qualifications
- Previous experience as an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic, Maintenance Technician, Equipment Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic, Fleet Mechanic, or similar role
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Working knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, fuel, and mechanical systems
- Ability to read service manuals, schematics, and technical documentation
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
- Valid driver's license required
- CDL is a plus but not required
- Must have a basic set of mechanic hand tools
Preferred Experience
- Industrial maintenance experience
- Forklift repair and maintenance
- Diesel engine repair
- Hydraulic system diagnostics and repair
- Preventative maintenance programs
- Electrical troubleshooting
- Experience working in industrial, manufacturing, rail, construction, agricultural, or maintenance environments

Physical Requirements

- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, and work around industrial equipment
- Ability to safely perform physical tasks associated with equipment repair and maintenance
