Job Overview
We are currently seeking an amazing Speech-Language Technician to work under the direction of a supervising speech-language pathologist. SLTs will need to follow the guidelines under the USBE SLT Handbook to obtain and maintain licensing before or within one month of hire. Responsibilities
- SLTs will work under the supervision of a speech language pathologist (SLP).
- Support instructional and therapeutic opportunities in the education setting under the supervision of the SLP.
- Deliver therapy according to the IEP, schedule and under the supervision of the SLP.
- Assist with informal and formal documentation (i.e., logs) as directed by the SLP
- Collect data and document student performance and report to the supervising SLP
- Assist the SLP with scheduling, record keeping, material preparation
- Represent yourself as working under the SLP
- Assist with speech, language, and hearing screenings, without interpretation.
- Create your own schedule under the guidance of the school special education director and SLP
- Maintain student confidentiality in accordance with FERPA laws
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications disorders or the equivalent
- Valid SLT license through the state
- Those with a degree but no SLT license are considered Speech Aides; pay for Speech Aids is $22.50-$27.50/hour
- Available to travel to and serve multiple schools throughout the state
- Available to work up to 30 hours per week
- Flexible schedule that affords regular attendance at schools and meets school schedule needs
- Strong oral and written communication skills with parents, students, school staff, and company staff
- School experience preferred
- Knowledge about the federal and state education rules and regulations which impact an SLT’s role in providing services to special education students
Pay: $27.50 - $33.50 per hour
