Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and vigilant Detention Officer to maintain safety, security, and order within our detention facility. This role requires a strong sense of responsibility, excellent conflict management skills, and the ability to handle challenging situations professionally. The Detention Officer will be responsible for supervising inmates, ensuring facility security, and enforcing rules and regulations. Duties
- Monitor inmate activity through CCTV systems and conduct regular patrols of the detention area to ensure safety and security.
- Respond promptly to emergencies and incidents, utilizing first aid and CPR skills when necessary.
- Enforce facility rules and regulations, maintaining order through effective conflict management techniques.
- Document daily activities, incidents, and inmate behavior accurately through detailed report writing.
- Conduct searches of inmates and their belongings to prevent contraband from entering or leaving the facility.
- Assist with inmate transportation and coordinate with law enforcement agencies as required.
- Maintain communication with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth facility operations.
- Uphold professional standards of conduct at all times, demonstrating integrity and respect for all individuals.
Experience
- Prior experience in law enforcement, security, military service, or detention facilities is preferred but not mandatory.
- Certification or training in CCTV operation, first aid, CPR, conflict management, or report writing is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to handle stressful situations calmly and effectively while maintaining professionalism.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail are essential for success in this role.
- Excellent communication skills for clear reporting and effective interaction with inmates, staff, and external agencies. This position offers a vital role in maintaining public safety within our community by ensuring the secure operation of our detention facilities through diligent supervision and professional conduct.
Pay: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour
