OVERVIEW
Phoenix Corporation is looking for a skilled, safety-minded Welder who takes pride in clean, precise work and can move confidently between MIG, TIG, and Stick processes.
This role is central to our production and fabrication work, with a strong focus on stainless steel. It’s a great fit for someone who’s detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable reading a print and turning it into a finished, weld-tested part.
Whether you’re certified or have built your skills through hands-on experience, what matters most is that you can produce strong, clean welds consistently, follow safety and quality standards, and take ownership of your work.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Welding & Fabrication
- Perform MIG, TIG, and Stick welding on a variety of metals, with an emphasis on stainless steel.
- Select the appropriate welding process, technique, and settings based on material thickness, joint type, and project specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and work orders to complete jobs accurately.
- Fit, tack, and weld components to meet dimensional and structural requirements.
- Grind, finish, and clean welds to meet appearance and quality standards.
Quality & Inspection
- Inspect completed welds for defects, penetration, and consistency before sign-off.
- Perform visual inspections and basic weld testing as required.
- Identify and correct issues such as warping, porosity, or improper fusion.
- Flag material or equipment issues that could affect weld quality.
Equipment & Materials
- Set up and maintain welding equipment, machines, and tools in safe working order.
- Select correct filler metals, shielding gases, and electrodes for stainless steel and other materials.
- Track material usage and keep the work area stocked and organized.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot minor equipment issues.
Safety & Shop Standards
- Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of PPE, ventilation, and fire safety practices.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area.
- Comply with all company, OSHA, and industry safety standards.
- Report safety concerns or equipment malfunctions promptly.
Customer Site Work & Mechanical Support
- Travel to customer sites as needed to perform on-site welding and repairs.
- Represent Phoenix professionally while working in customer facilities.
- Take part in mechanical work, including equipment installation, assembly, and repair, alongside welding tasks.
- Adapt tools, techniques, and setups to varied on-site working conditions.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
The right person for this role takes real pride in craftsmanship — you know the difference between a weld that just holds and a weld that’s done right, and you don’t cut corners to save time.
You don’t need to have every certification to be a great fit here. Certified welders and experienced welders who’ve built strong skills on the job are both welcome to apply — what matters most is that your work speaks for itself.
We’re looking for someone with:
- Proven experience with MIG, TIG, and Stick welding processes.
- Hands-on experience welding stainless steel; experience with other metals (galvanized steel, aluminum) is a plus.
- Welding certification preferred, but significant hands-on experience will also be considered.
- Ability to weld in all positions — flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead (e.g., 6G).
- Ability to read blueprints, welding symbols, and technical specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality craftsmanship.
- Comfort using grinders, cutting tools, and standard shop equipment.
- Knowledge of proper safety practices, PPE, and shop safety standards.
- Physical ability to stand, bend, and work in varied positions for extended periods, and to lift materials as needed.
- A reliable, hands-on work ethic and willingness to take ownership of your work.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites as needed and comfort taking on mechanical tasks beyond welding.
WHY PHOENIX
- Work on varied, hands-on projects that put your welding skills to real use.
- Opportunities to travel and weld at customer sites, plus take part in the mechanical side of the work.
- Build your craft alongside an experienced team that values quality work.
- Join a stable, growing company with a friendly, team-oriented culture.
- Work in a well-equipped shop with the tools and materials you need to do the job right.
- Competitive pay based on experience and certification, with room to grow.
