About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Water Well Drill Division Operations Manager to lead and grow our drilling operations in California.
This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for managing:

The ideal candidate will have strong water well drilling experience, proven operational leadership skills, and the ability to manage both people and projects in a fast-paced field environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily operations for the Water Well Drilling Division.
- Manage drilling crews, supervisors, operators, and support personnel.
- Oversee public works and private-sector drilling projects from planning through completion.
- Coordinate crew schedules, equipment needs, tooling, materials, and project timelines.
- Ensure drilling projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.
- Provide leadership and direction to field teams across multiple job sites.
- Monitor field productivity, labor hours, job costs, equipment utilization, and project profitability.
- Review project scopes, specifications, schedules, staffing needs, and production expectations before work begins.
- Support estimating and proposal efforts by providing input on labor requirements, equipment needs, production rates, project schedules, site conditions, and operational risks.
- Work closely with estimating, project management, safety, administration, and executive leadership.
- Maintain strong communication with customers, inspectors, general contractors, municipalities, water districts, public agencies, vendors, and internal team members.
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture throughout the division.
- Conduct field visits to evaluate safety, quality, productivity, equipment needs, and crew performance.
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies, OSHA requirements, environmental requirements, and applicable drilling regulations.
- Coordinate equipment readiness, maintenance needs, fleet utilization, tooling, and inventory planning.
- Help identify and resolve field issues before they impact safety, schedule, budget, or client satisfaction.
- Recruit, train, mentor, evaluate, and develop field team members.
- Hold crews and supervisors accountable for safety, production, quality, paperwork, and professionalism.
- Assist with change order identification, documentation, and communication.
- Support improvement of operating procedures, reporting systems, production standards, and division-level performance metrics.
- Represent the company professionally with clients, agencies, inspectors, vendors, and employees.
Required Qualifications
- A BS or general Civil, Construction Management, or related education and experience will be considered
- Minimum 7+ years of experience in a managerial, supervisory, or operations leadership role.
- Experience must be in water well drilling, drilling operations. Other experience including: heavy civil construction, utilities, public works construction, construction operations, or closely related field operations is a plus.
- Required experience with California public works projects and prevailing wage compliance.
- Strong understanding of field operations, crew leadership, job planning, equipment coordination, production tracking, project execution, and safety accountability.
- Ability to manage multiple crews, job sites, schedules, and priorities.
- Experience working with municipalities, water districts, public agencies, general contractors, inspectors, or public works clients.
- Ability to read and understand project scopes, plans and specifications, schedules, cost information, job documentation, and safety requirements.
- Strong communication, leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work in California and travel to project sites throughout the state as needed.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

- Procore or similar project management tool
- Familiar with Microsoft Sharepoint, Teams, and Office applications
Compensation and Benefits
- Expected base salary $120,000 annually.
