Shady Nook Nursing and Rehab is seeking a Cook to join our skilled nursing facility in Lawrenceburg, IN.
The Cook assists in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of meals in accordance with planned menus and established portion control procedures.

- 12:30 PM – 8:30 PM
Responsibilities
- Prepare food in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations
- Follow facility policies and procedures as directed by the Director of Food Services
- Review menus prior to food preparation
- Complete required forms, reports, and documentation and submit them to the Director of Food Services
- Ensure all food procedures are followed in accordance with established policies
- Assume responsibility and accountability for cook duties
- Assist in standardizing food preparation methods and kitchen procedures
- Process diet changes and new diet orders received from Nursing Services
- Establish timelines to ensure meals are prepared and served on schedule
- Prepare and serve substitute foods to residents who refuse scheduled menu items
- Follow all safety and sanitation regulations and ensure compliance by all personnel
- Assist with daily and scheduled cleaning duties in accordance with established policies and procedures
- Ensure the department is maintained in a clean and safe manner and that necessary equipment and supplies are available
- Maintain food storage areas in a clean and organized condition at all times
Experience
- One (1) year of food service experience in a supervisory capacity in a hospital, nursing care facility, or related healthcare setting preferred, but not required
Qualifications
- Must be able to prepare a variety of foods in large quantities
- Must be knowledgeable of food preparation procedures
- Must possess leadership ability and work effectively with other staff members
- Must be able to follow oral and written instructions
- Must maintain the proper care and use of supplies, equipment, and work areas
- Must perform regular inspections of food service areas for sanitation, safety, and quality standards
- Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional demands of the position
- Must be 18 years of age or older
