ISSAC is a TK-8 independent charter school, which emphasizes STREAM, Mandarin Chinese and Spanish, Project-Based Learning, and a Social-Emotional Learning Framework (SELF). Definition:
Under the supervision of the Executive Director/Principal; the Teacher provides instruction and services for their pupils in the Multiple Subject elementary classroom. Candidates should have a strong background in planning standards-based lessons and deliver lessons with effective student-directed classroom management skills. The ideal candidate will have experience working with English language learners, and will have extensive expertise in providing differentiated instruction for high achieving and at-risk students, including targeted intervention based on ongoing data analysis. We are seeking teachers with a constructivist teaching methodology. Individuals whose pedagogy is focused on arts integration, student-centered instruction, and project-based learning, are strongly encouraged to apply.
Essential Duties:
- Provides direct instruction in academic areas on a one-to-one, small group, or whole group basis.
- Provides student-directed independent practice activities as part of lesson plan and classroom structure.
- Provides a positive learning environment that stimulates student learning and maintenance of skills.
- Supports the policies and programs of ISSAC Org and perform assigned duties consistent with School, District and Special Education policies, regulations and procedures.
- Evaluates and reviews pupils’ academic and social progress.
- Applies effective classroom management techniques.
- Utilizes evaluation data for the modification of instruction and curriculum.
- Maintains professional competency by actively participating in training activities and other similar opportunities provided to staff.
- Attends regular and special staff meetings and actively participates as a member of the educational team.
Other duties:
- Carry out mission, vision, and values established by ISSAC Org.
- Participate in the overall agency accreditation, reviews, audits, and continuous quality improvement processes.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Education/Experience:
Possess valid Multiple Subject Teaching credential
- Possess valid Multiple Subject Teaching credential
- CLAD Certification
- Desirable - BCLAD Certification in Spanish
- Interns will be considered.
Special Requirements:
- Fingerprinting from the Department of Justice via live scan required
- Proof and clearance of TB test (current within one year) required
- Bilingual (Mandarin/Chinese/Spanish)
Please submit a 3-day Lesson Plan Unit on any subject TK-5. Include the following:
- Front-loading Vocabulary (lesson)
- Technology usage (lesson/independent activity)
- Use of manipulatives and/or multiple intelligences
- Real-world connections(lesson)
- Student-directed practice (independent activity)
- Pre/post/assessment(lesson)
- Parent involvement (practice together, projects, watch together)
- Checking for understanding (for regrouping and possible intervention)
- Intervention plan(throughout)
How to Prepare for the In Person Interview:
Design a 6-week project-based learning by:
1) outline including the essential questions, learning goals & vocabulary list;
2) share what students can present at the end of the project including one art component;
3) the timeline of project tasks.
Potential themes include: taking action on goals, how things work, peace & human rights, environment, human health, business & entrepreneurship.
Requirements:
- A valid or in-progress PK-3 Credential is required.
- Multiple Subject Teaching Credential (preliminary or clear credential)
- Speaking more than one language is ideal

The salary schedule depends on years of experience leading a class.
One to start over the summer - July 2026.
